What are eyelash extensions and how are they applied?
Eyelash extensions are silk lashes which are applied directly to the natural lash with a semi-permanent bonding adhesive. A single or fanned extension is applied carefully using specially designed tweezers to a single isolated lash, allowing your eyelashes and eyelids to move freely.
How long do they last?
Please note that it is normal for lash extensions to fall out over time. Liv suggests booking in every 2-3 weeks to keep your extensions looking full and fresh.
How long does it take to apply lash extensions?
The duration of your appointment depends on which set type you are after and how full you would like them to be. The time can vary between 1.5 - 2 hours.
Can you get them wet / swim with them?
It is suggested to not get your lashes wet in the first 24 hours to allow enough time for the glue to dry. After this you can swim and get them wet, However please be aware that when they are exposed to water for long periods of time they do tend to fall out quicker.
Do they damage your natural lashes?
No they shouldn't! It is important to do your research before booking in with a lash technician. Having a tech who is not properly qualified or inexperienced can lead to damage of your natural lashes. However, it is important to understand that not everyone's eyelashes are the same. Some people have extremely thin lashes and in this case it is recommended that volume sets are not to be used to ensure your natural lashes remain strong and healthy.
Can I have a reaction to eyelash extensions?
Everyone reacts to chemicals differently, Liv uses Elleebana Ultra Super Adhesive lash glue which is a well known brand in the lash industry that many technicians use. However, it is possible to have a reaction to adhesive glue. If this does happen please get in touch as soon as possible so we can book you in for a removal. Symptoms of a reaction include; red, puffy and watery eyes.
Can eyelash extensions be removed?
Yes! Eyelash extensions can be removed using a cream remover which sits on the lashes for about 5 minutes. This generally is enough time to remove them but can depend on how fresh your set of lashes are and how many you have.
How can I clean my lashes?
You can clean your lashes by applying a small amount of lash shampoo on the lashes of each eye using a cleansing brush. Gently rinse it off with water and pat the lashes dry with a towel.
Can I wear makeup with my lashes? Including mascara?
You can certainly wear makeup with your lash extensions but eyeliner and mascara should be avoided in order to keep your lashes healthy and isolated. Using mascara can clump them together and make them heavier which can cause them to fall out quicker. Make sure that when you do wear makeup , in particular powder and eyeshadow that you clean your lashes to avoid excess powder sticking into the glue and lashes.
How long does a lash lift take and does it really work?
A lash lift takes between 45-60 minutes and yes it absolutely does work! However, for those who have recently had extensions removed Liv recommends leaving them to strengthen for at least 3 weeks before booking in for a lift to ensure you achieve desired results.
How long does a lash lift last?
A lash lift typically lasts between 6-8 weeks but results depend on how quickly your eyelashes grow. You should avoid mascara for at least 48 hours after your appointment, and leave lashes untouched for 24 hours.
How far in advance should I book my appointment?
Liv recommends booking in at least 3 weeks in advance to secure a suitable appointment and avoid disappointment. During formal and holiday periods she recommends at least 5 weeks as she is normally fully booked during November / December /January.
